Getting to the Ebeltoft terminal
The Ebeltoft ferry port is at Færgevejen 60, 8400 Ebeltoft, around 5 kilometres outside the town centre on the east coast of Djursland. The address works as a sat nav destination, as does searching for "Molslinjen Ebeltoft". By car from Germany, take the E45 north to Aarhus and then Route 15 and Route 21 heading east; from Aarhus it's around 50 kilometres, a good 45-minute drive.
The port is well signposted and has a waiting area and toilets. Parking is run by Q-Park for a fee. This route only operates seasonally from April to October; outside the season you can use the year-round Aarhus - Odden connection.
Check-in and departure
Molslinjen keeps check-in times short: with a car and as a foot passenger you need to be checked in at least 10 minutes before departure, and the same goes for motorbikes. If you're travelling with a towed trailer or caravan, allow 30 minutes; electric cars with a reserved charging space need 20 minutes, coaches 15 minutes. With a Business BlueClass ticket, 5 minutes is enough.
The quickest way to check in is in advance via the Molslinjen app, saving you the machine at the port and letting you drive straight to loading. Ebeltoft - Odden is a domestic Danish crossing, so there are no border checks.

The route is served by the high-speed catamaran Express 2, one of the largest fast catamarans in the world. With a crossing of only 75 minutes, it's a pure daytime ferry with no cabins: you spend the crossing in the seating areas, in the restaurant Molly's Diner, at the Barista's Coffee Shop, or in the Business Lounge (BlueClass) with panoramic views. Booking a meal along with your ticket in advance gets you on board faster.
The ferry is accessible: lifts connect the vehicle deck with the passenger decks, wheelchair spaces are near the lifts, and anyone needing assistance should register in advance and allow 30 minutes for check-in. Parking machines and check-in at the port accept Dankort, Visa and Mastercard; number-plate payment or Bizz is billed automatically.
Vehicle, bike and pet

Electric cars can travel with a reserved charging space, with check-in then starting 20 minutes before departure. Bikes travel free of charge: as a foot passenger you reserve a bike space in advance and board via the car ramp.
Dogs and cats are allowed on board. Dogs must stay on a lead, cats travel in a carrier, and animals stay on the floor rather than on the seating. At the stern of the ferry there's a dedicated dog and picnic area; pets are not allowed in the restaurant or Business Lounge. Arrival in Odden and onward travel
The ferry docks at Odden Færgehavn, Oddenvej 388, 4583 Sjællands Odde, on the Sjællands Odde peninsula in north-west Zealand. From there Route 21 (the Odsherred and Holbæk motorway) continues via Holbæk towards Roskilde and Copenhagen; you can reach the capital in around an hour and a half. Compared with driving via the Great Belt, this shortcut saves you around 200 kilometres.
